Meet the 2025 Student Recipients

Drew Provinzino — Fisheries Science

Hometown: Woodbury, Minnesota
School: Transferring to Bemidji State University (junior)

A lifelong outdoorsman, Drew is pursuing a career as a fisheries scientist—ideally with the Minnesota DNR—so he can protect the resources that shaped his life.

“The outdoors has always been a passion and a way of life for me. This scholarship helps me turn that passion into a career while protecting the resources our state has. I want everyone to experience the outdoors and make memories lasting a lifetime.”

How your support helps Drew: Scholarship funding covers critical academic costs and keeps Drew in the field gaining hands-on fisheries experience.

Alex Treinen — Conservation Law & Wildlife Biology

Hometown: Menahga, Minnesota
School: Valley City State University (junior)

Alex is double majoring while documenting his hunting adventures and mentoring new hunters. His goal: become a game warden and champion ethical, conservation-minded participation in the outdoors.

“One of my favorite things to do is bring new hunters out and encourage them to get involved—helping them experience the excitement and responsibility that come with hunting and wildlife conservation.”

How your support helps Alex: Scholarship support lightens the financial load so he can focus on coursework, mentoring, and field experience.

Program Partners We’re Backing in 2025

Delta Waterfowl — University Hunting Program (UHP)

Launched in 2017, UHP gives wildlife management students first-hand exposure to waterfowling and the role of hunting in North American conservation. With more than 120 affiliated colleges, students complete hunter safety, practice shooting skills, participate in a mentored hunt at a quality location, then debrief together over a post-hunt meal and discussion.

Why it matters: Tomorrow’s habitat decision-makers gain practical context for science-based policy and an appreciation for how ethical hunting funds conservation.

Minnesota Conservation Federation — Conservation Leadership Academy (CLA)

CLA partners with Minnesota colleges and universities to introduce students—especially those headed for natural resources careers but new to field sports—to fishing, hunting, and trapping.

Why it matters: Hands-on experiences broaden understanding of conservation’s connection to those who hunt, fish, and trap—creating more effective, empathetic leaders.
