Outdoor News Youth Writing Contest

  • Do you fancy yourself a prodigy in outdoors writing? Maybe you recall an interesting day afield you’d like to share. If so, Outdoor News invites you to enter our 2020 Youth Writing Contest.

We’ll print four of the best stories and two of the best poems in Outdoor News during the holiday season in December, then sponsor them in the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) annual writing contest.

Top prizes in each of two categories, Senior (grades 9-12) and Junior (grades 6-8) will win $100 and an award plaque. Second prize, plus a poetry winner in each age group, will receive $50 and a plaque. We’ll also enter the winners in the OWAA contest, where participants have a chance to win additional cash prizes.

And to all teachers and firearms education instructors: Consider pitching the contest to your students!
