Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism biologists try to cultivate 80 million walleye eggs

Historically, walleye were rare in Kansas, native to a few streams and rivers in the far eastern parts of a state with essentially no natural lakes. In the mid-20th century, however, lakes and reservoirs were built throughout the state, and the Kansas Fish and Game Commission (now the Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, or KDWPT) began aggressively stocking walleye.
