17/141Photo by Nick BeebeOn opening day of bow season near Clyde, Ohio this year as I sat in my tree stand I could see what appeared to be a killed deer laying about a 150 yards away. Once shooting hours were done I climbed down to see what the situation was with the deer and I walked up on this scene, two bucks with locked antlers, the one laying down appeared to have been dead for some time, while the one standing was tired and weak. I called my brother who was out hunting as well and we were able to separate the the two bucks. Very cool experience.

47/141Photo by Heather AthertonI have been hunting 11 years, mostly compound bow. I harvested a deer every year up until 4 years ago, when I shot my first buck. (A 4 point) Since then, I have had the worst luck. I have pulled back my bow more times than I could count, but never got the perfect shot. I decided to go this gun season, the last day. And somehow, everything went right. This was the most emotional hunt I have ever had, and I finally got myself a decent buck! It just goes to show, never give up! If you find something that you are truly passionate about, stick with it. I've felt so defeated at times, but I still got up, threw on my camo, and got out there. And it finally paid off! I couldn't be happier!
