10 year old, Holden Foster, of Tomah, WI caught this 20-inch bass on Lake Tomah, the evening of September 30, 2020. He was using a Bomber Fat A crank bait with a medium retreive. The bass was released back into the lake for someone else to experience the thrill of catching it.
Hailey Force, 12, of Mukwonago, caught and released this bluegill on August 13th on Lake Beulah. This was her first fish she ever caught and she did it all on her own right off the pier in Walworth County.
44.5-inch northern caught near Ignace, Ontario, Canada on July 6, 2018. It was netted by my son and my father-in-law. It was the last cast of the trip. What a way to finish! My Dad and several other relatives were on the same lake.
I know this photo is a couple years old, but it was a wonderful time (and warm) on the ice that day exactly 3 years ago today! I think the photo turned out pretty nice! Thought maybe you'd like to use it in an upcoming issue with the end of ice fishing season approaching. You could photoshop the date off the picture if you wanted. Thank you!
Personal best lake trout! Craziest thing was how this fish hit. I watched this small faint green line flying up so fast I just assumed it was an air bubble. We were in about 70ft but my line went slack at 20ft down so I closed the bail and set the hook. Put up a great fight!
Julia Schroeder (Granddaughter of Fritz and Penny Schroeder of Minong Fritz Schroeder was teaching 3 yr old granddaughter Julia to fish, and she was doing great reeling in Sunfish from our dock on Nancy Lake. She kept saying she wanted to get a really GIANT fish to eat for dinner, and a few casts later hooked this 14" Largemouth Black Bass. She was reeling initially, but then got stuck because her little fingers weren't strong enough any longer, so she asked for Grandpa's help. (He is holding the line holding the fish in this photo.)
Caleb Makovsky caught this 31" northern while fishing with his grandpa Larry Makovsky on a Price County Lake on February 5, 2017. Caleb is 15 and has been fishing with his grandparents since he was 2 years old. Great catch!
Korbin Baltus (age 6) reeled in this dandy of a 32 1/2" Northern on the Eau Pleine Flowage, WI while fishing with his grandpa,Ed Dreikosen and big brother, Wilson, August 12,2016. He said, "that is the biggest fish I caught in my whole life." Here's to many more good fishing days!
Thomas Swanson, of River Falls, WI caught this 24 1/2 in Walleye while fishing in pool 4 of the Mississippi River on Sunday, September 18th, 2016. He was using a number 7 Firetiger Shad Rap. He was fishing with his dad Pete, brother Ryan, and grandpa Jim.

Gavin Pausch & Oliver Notbusch caught these walleye while fishing Lac Seul near Ear Falls, ON. Between 3 fisherman, over 400 walleye were landed during the week of fishing! The boy's were heard numerous times saying "Best place ever!".
Gavin Pausch, of Palmyra, caught & released this 42-inch muskie while fishing the Indian Lake Chain in Vermillion Bay, ON. The fish hit a KO Wobbler, with 6lb monofilament, while trying to locate Lake Trout. Holding the fish is his Dad, Paul.
Tristan Krznarich now of Commerce, Texas, was fishing with his grandpa Larry, of Park Falls, when he landed this 27-inch nothern on his ultralight rod and reel. "Almost pulled me out of the boat, gramps" was his comment!
Matt Oehmichen, of Colby, WI, caught and released this 38-inch Muskie on a 6 wt fly rod without a leader or a landing net, on the Wisconsin River July 11 2015. The Muskie got payback when it bit into Matt's index finger during the landing.
Wanted to share a rather remarkable catch I had this afternoon. I was fishing the Menomonee River near Milwaukee where some trout were packed into a bottleneck. I caught a few and nothing was out of the ordinary until I reeled this one in.
12 1/2 in perch caught on 3/30/15 on the Mississippi River in Genoa Wi. slow walleye bite right now with the colder weather but hoping it jumps back here soon in the mean time the perch bite is on and their catching dandy's out there
Penny Pophal, of Merrill, Wis., caught this 24-inch walleye Dec. 7th 2014 on a lake in Tomahawk. The fish has a 19-inch girth. Penny caught this fish ice fishing with a tip down on 4 lb line. she released it and is going to get a replica made.
Cousin's Traiton (11) & Coltan (12) with a little help, landed their first muskie. While fishing in northern Wisconsin for walleyes, this 43-inch, 17-pound muskie decided to take Traiton's leech. He caught it on 10lb test on an ultralight. Memories for life!
Alexis Mamer, of Hasting, caught a 43-inch muskie while crappie fishing on the Chippewa Flowage on August 3,2014. The fish was caught on 4 pound test with an ultra light rod. The fish took the crappie minnow and after ten minutes and after jumping out of the water Gage Muench was able to net it for me. It was my first muskie.
Trevor Burby, age 9, won a muskie rod this spring and saved up his money to buy a reel. During his family annual fishing vacation, Trevor only fishing for 1 hour he caught his 1st muskie 45-inches and 20-pounds on Buckatabon Lake on July 16th 2013.
Nick Mertes’s son Seth turned three years old on June 10th and has been fishing on the boat since he was two! The picture was taken this Sunday (Father’s Day) at the USAA Childs Wish Fishing Outing held at Captain K's Marina in Algoma WI.

My son Cody Salzman (8-yrs old) caught this walleye on Green Bay off the mouth of the Menominee River on 3/18/12 using a jig and minnow on 8-lb test line. The fish measured 30 inches and weighed in at 10 lbs 12 oz.
