White moose controversy in Canada

The National Post, among other news outlets in Canada,  were reporting a “white moose” controversy in Nova Scotia this week. Three hunters sparked an outcry after posting images of an impressive albino moose they killed in the Cape Breton Highlands this fall.

The hunters posted images of the moose on Facebook, which outraged the Mi’kmaq First Nations, who believe albino creatures to be “spirit” animals, according to the National Post and other media outlets. The Daily Mail reports the hunters are returning the hide so the Mi’kmaq can perform a sacred ceremony with it.
