Upper Peninsula Fishing Report - November 23rd, 2012r

Pickford Area

Deer hunting has been good, and deer numbers appear to be up in Chippewa County. Waterfowl hunting has been fair. Fishing pressure has been light, but anglers fishing Raber Bay are catching good numbers of walleyes. Perch are still hitting in Lake Huron at Cedarville, but few anglers are out.

Curtis Area

Deer hunting has been OK in Luce County. The rut is on. Waterfowl hunting has been pretty good with flight birds moving in. Walleye fishing has been good on Big Manistique Lake, but the skid docks have been taken out and access is difficult. Fishing pressure has been light.

Garden Area

Deer hunting has been good in Delta and Schoolcraft counties and will improve now that the rut is on. Bass fishing remains pretty good in Lake Michigan’s Big Bay de Noc. No word on perch yet, but fishing pressure has been light.

Escanaba Area

Deer hunting has been good in Delta County and bucks are chasing does. A few perch are still being caught in Little Bay de Noc’s Escanaba Harbor, but fishing pressure has been light.

Bergland Area

Deer hunting has been real good in Ontonagon and Gogebic counties. The rut is on and deer numbers are up. Walleye fishing has been very good on Lake Gogebic. Anglers casting from shore with crankbaits and sucker minnows are catching good numbers of fish, especially in the evenings.

Keweenaw Peninsula

Deer hunting has been good in the Keweenaw Peninsula. Deer numbers are up and the rut is on. Fishing pressure has been light, as most sportsmen and women are in deer camp.

Iron River Area

Deer hunting has been good. Bucks are chasing does. Coyote numbers are high. Hunting pressure has been high this year. Muskie fishing has been very good on Lake Michigamme and Chicagon lakes.
