Lake Ontelaunee (Berks County)

Colder nights turned on the crappie bite, with the spillway and the Route 73 area productive. Small jigs and small live minnows were the ticket.

Schuylkill River (Philadelphia, Montgomery counties)

Juvenile striped bass were reported below Fairmount Dam. Walleyes were started to become active. Catfish were the best bite above Fairmount Dam in mid to late October, with bagels, chicken livers, shrimp, and pepperoni productive on channel cats and live baits the ticket for big flatheads. Tiger muskies were sighted.

Tulphehocken Creek (Berks, Lebanon counties)

Conditions fluctuated through Oct. 26. Streamers were effective, including white and olive Wooly Buggers, Zuddlers and Slumpbusters. Nymphing was the best bet. Hatches included tan caddis (18-20), midges (20-26), and green caddis (18-20).
