A state stocking Dec. 11 put nice trout in the water.

Lake Ontelaunee (Berks County)

Large rubber worms on black, purple, dark green, and pumpkinseed were effective, as were live crawlers, minnows, and crayfish.

Octararo Reservoir (Chester County)

Legal size walleyes, at least 15 inches, were reported below the spillway in mid-December, with minnows or shad darts tipped with minnows off the bottom productive.

Green Lane Reservoir (Montgomery County)

Nice-size crappies were reported around Knight Road Bridge in mid-December.

Tuscarora Lake (Schuylkill County)

Trout were reported in the boat cove and at the mouth of Locust Creek, and hitting on small grubs and mealworms.

Little Mahanoy, Locust, Pine creeks (Schuylkill County)

These and some other small streams were holding trout through mid-December.

Delaware River (Northampton County)

Walleyes averaging 18 to 20 inches were hitting on bucktail jigs, chiefly in black, with medium shiners.

Bushkill Creek (Northampton County)

Brown trout were reported on small crankbaits just before Christmas.

Little Lehigh River (Lehigh County)

Very good, trout from 18 to 22 inches on soft plastic minnows.
