Central Lower Peninsula Fishing Report - January 18th, 2013
Saginaw Bay Area
Shore ice was circling Lake Huron’s Saginaw Bay last week. Anglers were getting out in the shallows and were catching good numbers of perch. The early bite was the best. With warm weather and rain in the forecast for the weekend, be sure to call ahead for updated ice conditions.

Wellston Area
Fair numbers of steelhead are being caught on the Manistee River. Anglers tossing spoons and fishing with spawn and wax worms under floats are catching fish. Snow was melting fast last week, and with warm weather and rain in the forecast, there wasn’t much hope of holding it through the weekend. Coyote hunting has been slow to get started.

Harbor Beach Area
There was no ice on Lake Huron at Harbor Beach last week and with warm weather in the forecast, the outlook for ice fishing anytime soon was bleak.

Port Huron
Steelhead and brown trout fishing remains pretty good off the boardwalk in Port Huron in the St. Clair River. Shiners and red-eye spoons have produced the best action. Squirrel and rabbit hunting has been good. Coyote hunting has been slow.
