Rebounding boat market offers many options for 2013

Whether a person is looking to upgrade a current rig, or go “all in” on their first ride, boat manufacturers have plenty to choose from for 2013. Base “packages” are offered by several companies that are easier on the wallet than in the past. Or, if a person wants, they can spend more money on the boat than the pickup pulling it. If someone is looking for a “Fish-N-Ski” model, manufacturers are finally producing versions that don’t really lack a thing for both the skier or the angler. They truly are an all-in-one package and sure to please anyone. 

Crestliner

The Super Hawk series has undergone a host of exciting enhancements and design changes to layouts and features making it the perfect platform for families who want to hit the water to embrace everything it has to offer. Available in three sizes, the 2013 models now offer more cockpit space, taller freeboards and improved fit and finish.

Also new is the Sportsman series that provides anglers with a rugged, sporty-utility boat at a great value. Research, coupled with customer feedback, resulted in a new hull design backed by Crestliner’s welded durable construction.

Alumacraft

For 2013, Alumacraft is offering an LE package that includes several limited-edition features on its Trophy, Dominator, Competitor, Pro 175 and 185 boats for anglers who want to “kick it up a notch.”

You’ll get things like an exclusive metallic finish with three color choices, bow cargo nets, air ride seats, a new limited seat pattern and custom-stitched side pads (Trophys and Dominators only). But that’s just the beginning. Picky anglers will also enjoy the remote livewell drain in the rear, two new under-console slide-out drawers, cargo netting under consoles, two new AlumaTrac accessory mounts and a AM/FM/MP3 player stereo.

 

Lund

The new Lund 1875 Crossover has something for everyone, from the family member who just loves a boat ride to the diehard angler who wants to get after some walleyes. It’s 18 feet, 10 inches long and has dual center lockers – one for rods up to seven-feet long and one for skis and wake boards. Three comfortable Pro-Ride seats are standard, plus rear jump seats means plenty of seating, while huge compartments throughout mean plenty of storage for gear. Lund’s famous IPS hull gets you on plane fast and rock-stable once you stop.

Triton

The 186 Fishunter measures 18 feet, 6 inches and features a generously proportioned 100-inch beam for unparalleled stability and added interior space. It’s rated for 150 horses with a great blend of intuitive fishing features for avid walleye, muskie, bass, perch and panfish anglers who frequent inland lakes. The extra-wide beam and storage compartments – including the giant center rod storage box – provides ample room for all the tackle and gear needed by serious multi-species anglers. An extra measure of room in the aft sections of the boat makes it easier to access kicker motors, downriggers or planer boards when trolling.

Recon

The 785 Series by Recon features a 50-inch rear livewell for muskie enthusiasts and comes with either 12 or 21 position rod lockers for the bass tourney guys who love having tons of rods on board. Custom seats are sexy while oxygenators for the livewells are practical and keep fish healthy. A full windshield keeps spring and fall runs comfortable. Fishing-friendly features are standard.

DuraCraft

For anglers on small to midsized waters who want a lot of bang for their buck, the DuraCraft 1542 Fish Boat is a nice little ride. It’s perfect for fishing timber on the river or smaller lakes that have suspect launches that larger glass rigs wouldn’t dare launch on. A 63-inch beam makes it stable.

Tracker

Tracker’s deep-V hull boats are made to handle all kinds of conditions, on big water or small, and get you to your fishing destination and back with a smooth, dry ride. The new Pro Guide V 175 WT’s walk-through configuration protects pilot and passengers from spray on cold days when the swells and chop are big. It’s loaded with fisherman-friendly features like three lockable rod boxes, in-floor storage, two roomy livewells: a 29-gallon with removable bait bucket below the aft deck and a 19-gallon, also with a bait bucket, beneath the bow deck. Both operate with 500 gallon-per-hour pumps and have timers and re-circulators and pump-out systems. The midsized boat has a 20-degree deadrise, all-welded. The 100 gauge aluminum alloy hull delivers a perfect ride.

Nitro

The Nitro Z-7 has a 18-foot, 8-inch hull with exclusive Rapid Planing System transom for quick hole shots, and a 150-horsepower Mercury outboard with a factory-matched SST propeller. The wide, 94-inch beam creates plenty of space for roomy, stable fishing decks fore and aft while a 16-degree, dead-rise hull delivers efficient performance and a smooth, dry ride.

Hydraulic steering makes precision handling a breeze and the handy console features convenient instrumentation, a tinted windscreen and a flush-mounted Lowrance Mark V X Pro sonar system. A port-side console is removable. Two roomy, lockable rod lockers and a spacious bow locker all have power lid assists.

G3

For the bass angler who wants all the features but not the hefty price tag of some fiberglass models, the Eagle Talon produces. All of the most requested bass boat amenities are included, with an in-dash Garmin 100 fishfinder, 33-gallon divided livewell, recessed trolling motor foot control, and a rod locker that will hold up to 9-foot rods.

An extra wide all-aluminum hull has an exceptionally stable 92-inch beam and 64-inch bottom width. The sharp entry lines of the bow provide a wave-splitting glide that softens your ride, even with lower horsepower motors.
