Northeast Minnesota Fishing Report - December 28th, 2012

Posted on December 27, 2012

DULUTH AREA

Six to 10 inches of ice is common on most lakes and ATVs have started being used for travel. The Highbanks area of Fish Lake is giving up crappies 10 to 14 feet. Look to Boulder Lake for walleyes in eight to 12 feet, most of which are hitting chubs or spoons and minnow heads. Chubs also are producing northern pike at Rice Lake in five to seven feet.

LAKE KABETOGAMA

Walleyes and northern pike are hitting setlines and shiner minnows in 28 to 30 feet. Northern pike also are being caught in most bays over shallower water. Most areas of the lake that people are fishing have ice thick enough for snowmobile use.
