Trout waters receiving stockings; striper season opens - Adirondacks Report

Posted on April 19, 2012

Backcountry brook trout anglers have been taking advantage of the early ice-out, with early reports of some good fishing and catches more of quality than quantity (i.e., some big fish). On Lake Champlain, lake trout and landlocks continue to provide some good action, and stream anglers are hitting some of the region’s waters that have already received trout stockings. Those include:

Essex County

Ausable River (East Branch), Ausable River (West Branch), Cascade Brook, Johns Brook, Lower Cascade Lake, Putnam Creek, Saranac River, Schroon River, Slide Brook, Trout Brook

Franklin County

Saranac River, Sumner Brook, Two Bridge Brook, Fulton County, Ayers Creek, Crum Creek, East Canada Creek, Middle Sprite Creek, Timmerman Creek, Zimmerman Creek.
