Springfield — The state’s pheasant and quail hunters are learning that the country’s largest upland game event will be hosted by Illinois for the first time ever.

Pheasants Forever is bringing its signature event – the National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic to Schaumburg Feb. 22-24, 2019.

A consumer outdoors show that focuses on wildlife conservation, upland game bird hunting, dog training and wildlife habitat management, the weekend-long gathering also features seminars and information on shooting sports, and wild game cooking.

While Schaumburg has confirmed as the site of the 2019 event, details are still be worked out. Pheasant Fest had record-breaking attendance in Minneapolis in 2017 and was sold out for the 2018 show last weekend in Sioux Falls.

Economically, the event could be a great coup – Kansas City officials estimated the 2016 Pheasant Fest held there had a $5.6 million impact for the city.
