Park Rapids team champ, Proctor’s Zack Ciurleo top individual in Class 3A trap shooting

ALEXANDRIA, Minn. — Park Rapids High School won the overall team title while Proctor’s Zack Ciurleo was the top overall individual shooter during the Class 3A competition Wednesday in the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League Trap Shooting Championship at Alexandria Shooting Park.

The Class 4A competition was in progress Thursday.

Park Rapids edged Stillwater for the overall and varsity titles. Also winning team titles were Willmar (junior varsity) and Pelican Rapids (novice).

Ciurleo won the overall and varsity boys titles. Also winning individual championships in 3A were Sally Yliniemi, Park Rapids, varsity girls; Collin Leuze, Willmar, junior varsity boys; Zoe Flath, Park Rapids, junior varsity girls; Kaleb Tollefson, Pelican Rapids, novice boys; and Taylah Schroeder, West Central Area, novice girls.

The event, regarded as the world’s largest shooting sport event, runs through Tuesday, June 20. The championship serves as a team qualifier for the state tournament, scheduled June 24 at the Minneapolis Gun Club in Prior Lake.
