Southeast Pennsylvania Fishing Report – July 31st, 2014

Blue Marsh Lake (Berks County) — Catfish and crappies were hitting through mid-July. Bass action was spotty, depending on conditions.

Octararo Reservoir (Chester County) — As of July 18, Jim Neary’s Bait and Tackle reported a better-than-average bass bite on wacky-rigged plastic worms around blowdowns. White perch fishing was fantastic on a variety of baits from crawlers to minnows to soft plastics. Hybrid striped bass were hitting on large shiners and medium swim baits at the covered bridge. Catfish were reported on clam snouts and green crawlers near the bridges. Crappies were in deeper water down to 22 feet and hitting on slip-bobber rigs with medium fathead minnows on jigs or trout magnets
