Southwest Pennsylvania Fishing Report – January 31st, 2014

Monongahela River (Greene County) — The water near Port Marion and Greensboro were fishable in recent weeks. Anglers were catching panfish on bright reflective baits.

High Point Lake (Somerset County) — Ice anglers were catching chain pickerel up to 25 inches, largemouth bass 15 to 19 inches, yellow perch 10 to 13 inches, and northern pike up to 26 inches on tip-ups and shiners in recent weeks in this mountain-top reservoir. One angler iced a 15.5-inch crappie Jan. 9.

Quemahoning Reservoir (Somerset County)   — Ice fishing is prohibited on this lake, but anglers reported catching northern pike in open water below the spillway in recent weeks.

Laurel Hill Lake (Somerset County) — A few trout were reported in recent weeks.

Stonycreek River (Somerset County) — Anglers were targeting trout in the lower reaches of this waterway in recent weeks.
