Northeast Minnesota Fishing Report – January 10th, 2014


Walleyes are hitting chubs at Boulder Lake in 10 feet and Fish Lake is kicking out crappies in 10 to 12 feet near the dam. Caribou Lake is giving up crappies during the evening hours in 14 feet and the Duluth Harbor on Lake Superior continues to give up walleyes in six feet, mainly on shiner minnows.

Elbow Lake started giving up walleyes and perch in four feet. Walleyes are hitting spoons in 12 to 18 feet on Gunflint Lake. Look for lake trout over 25 to 30 feet at Duncan Lake and Daniel Lake. Slush and deep snow continue to limit angling options on most lakes.

White and black crappies are being caught on Lake Pokegama during the evening and nighttime hours. Look for sunfish and crappies from the sunken island all the way to the north end of Cross Lake. A few walleyes can be had after dark on both lakes in 16 to 20 feet.
