Northwest Oho Fishing Report – March 15th, 2013
Indian Lake (Logan County)
Indian Lake in Logan County was running muddy and virtually unfishable as of March 6, according to the folks at Lakeside Bass Pro Shop. Anglers are finding alternatives, however. Some fishermen fishing south of the dam are catching a few crappies and saugeyes, but nothing of any real size to report. Lakeside Bass Pro Shop, 937-843-2488
Maumee River (Lucas County)
The river temperature as of March 6 was 35.7 degrees, according to Maumee Bait and Tackle. Gary Lowry reports on the bait store’s website that this is well below the optimum level for the walleye run. Warmer temperatures or a warm rain are required before the run gets start, Lowry reports. Steelhead fishing from Vermilion on east is still going strong, Lowry reports, and should continue all the way through the walleye run. Expect a fresh push of fish as river levels drop to fishable conditions. Best baits to try for steelhead are spawn sacs, small tube jigs, and Mini Foos tipped with a spike or wax worm.
