Mosquito Lake (Trumbull County)
Ohio Outdoor News northeast correspondent Mike Mainhart reports up to three inches of ice on Mosquito as of Jan. 23. Ice anglers were expected to be out in full force over the next weekend, according to Oscar Kachenko at Causeway Sporting Goods. Mainhart is trying his luck vertically jigging VIB-”Es” in a variety of patterns.

Conneaut Creek (Ashtabula County)
Before the recent plummet in temperatures, warmer weather had produced good numbers of steelhead in both Conneaut Creek and the Ashtabula River. The bite slowed down some during the week of Jan. 14 due to off color water with high flows but is expected to pick back up toward the end of the month with improved weather conditions in the forecast.
