South Central Pennsylvania Fishing Report – January 3rd, 2013
Susquehanna River (Cumberland, Dauphin, York counties)
Nice numbers of walleyes were reported on live minnows with or without jigs, or jigs and bright-color twister tails, in recent weeks. The York Haven hydro dam and the Harrisburg Dock Street dam were productive spots to target. Smallmouth bass were hitting jerkbaits, with the area just south of the Dauphin narrows producing smallies up to 4-plus pounds. Anglers are reminded that smallmouths caught on the Susquehanna in Dauphin County must be released unharmed. Flathead and channel catfish were reported on crawlers and chicken livers through December.
Little Juniata River (Huntingdon County)
High, off-color, even muddy, flow was reported as of Dec. 18. Water was in the 50s. Large stoneflies, caddis and streamer patterns were working, according to TCO Fly Shop. Hatches included Caddisflies and a few Blue-Winged Olives.
