Southwest Ohio Fishing Report – December 7th, 2012

Paint Creek Lake (Highland County)

Anglers have had decent luck for saugeyes below the spillway using Twister Tails in chartreuse or pink, reports Leon Cole at Cole’s Bait and Tackle in Bainbridge. Crappies are being caught on jig and minnow combinations and on tube jigs in black/chartreuse or blue/chartreuse. Suspend either of the baits below a bobber at about 4 feet, Cole recommends. The best areas for crappies as been at Pioneer Farm and the campground.

Caesar Creek Lake (Warren County)

Anglers are catching crappies in 15 feet of water using minnows under a bobber and casting jigs. Look for any type of downed cover, particularly in the north end of the lake, for the best bite.

East Fork Lake (Clermont County)

Anglers have been catching crappies, hybrid stripers, and catfish at this lake outside of Cincinnati.

Rocky Fork Lake (Highland County)

The crappie bite at Rocky Fork has been steady with anglers catching fish near the restaurant and boat docks, reports Leon Cole of Cole’s Bait and Tackle in Bainbridge. Some crappies and yellow perch have been caught off South Beach by anglers fishing the drop-offs. It’s a bite late in the year, but some anglers have been catching bass on the north side of the lake, Cole reports.
