Lake St. Clair
Deer hunting has been good in rural Macomb and St. Clair counties. The rut is on. Windy, stormy weather put a damper on fishing on Lake St. Clair last week, and fishing was slower than slow.

Deer hunting has been good, with bucks on the run chasing does. Fishing pressure has been light in northern Oakland County as most sportsmen are hunting whitetails. A few nice bass have been caught from Lake Orion.

Deer hunting has been very good in Allegan County. The rut is on, and bucks are on the move. Unfortunately, hunters are finding a lot of dead deer, presumable killed by EHD. Steelhead fishing has been slow, but bluegills are hitting on Duck and Eagle lakes. A fair number of yellow perch are being caught on Duck, too.

Deer hunting has been good and the rut is on in Kalamazoo and surrounding counties. Deer apparently killed by EHD are still being found in the woods. Whitefish are hitting off the piers in Lake Michigan. Wax worms and salmon eggs are both producing fish up to 4 pounds. A few steelhead also are being caught. Steelies are being caught in the Kalamazoo River below the Allegan Dam. A few walleyes and catfish have been caught, as well. Bluegills and perch are hitting on Maple, Eagle, and Gun lakes.

Saginaw Bay Area
Deer hunting has been good in Bay and Arenac counties. Bucks are chasing does. Windy weather has made it tough for anglers to get out on Lake Huron’s Saginaw Bay. Perch fishing has been steady, with minnows taking good numbers of fish in the rivers and cuts. Walleye fishing has been slow, but should pick up any time at the mouth of the Saginaw River and in 13 to 15 feet of water all the way up to Linwood.

Deer hunting has been excellent in Isabella County, with lots of big bucks being taken. The rut is on. Waterfowl hunting also has been good. Fishing pressure has been light, with most sportsmen headed for the woods.

Deer hunting has been very good and local taxidermists have been busy. The rut is on, full bore. Corn was 75-percent down as of opening day of gun season. Burbot and lake trout and a few walleyes have been caught by anglers fishing off the breakwall on Lake Huron. Perch are hitting in the harbor and canals.

Deer hunting has been a bit slow, but the rut is on and action has picked up. Most of the corn has been harvested. Steelhead and walleye fishing has been very good in the St. Clair River. Shore anglers and boat anglers are catching lots of fish.
